One of the reasons why Evernote became so popular is because it allowed its users to easily sync notes across any device running on any operating systems. Can Outlook be a replacement for Evernote when it comes to managing notes?Ĭan you switch from Evernote to Outlook to manage notes and maintain the level of experience? It is definitely possible, but requires some tweaks to make Outlook share notes the same as Evernote. While this isn’t something that could push thousands of people away from using Evernote, some will look for alternatives to Evernote, enabling syncing with an unlimited number of devices. Right now Plus and Premium plans cost $4 and $8 per month, respectively, compared to the $3 and $6 before the changes. Their pricing policy has changed as well.

Beginning in late June, Evernote has limited its users to sync notes with only up to two devices with the free plan.

However, given that we had very limited time to build the new integration, we’re only currently only offering the same functionality as the previous integration. One immediate benefit from the new API integration is that our Chinese users will now be able to connect their Yinxiang accounts to Instapaper.Evernote is no longer free if you want to sync your notes with more than two devices. The good news around the new integration is that we’ll be able to offer more powerful integration options like the ability to select a default notebook and tags. In upcoming iOS and Android releases, we will also adjust the Evernote authentication page to use their API rather than requesting that you enter your Evernote email address. This will authenticate your Evernote account and allow Instapaper to create notes on your behalf. If you have linked your Evernote account in the past, please visit, scroll to “Connected Accounts,” disconnect Evernote, and re-connect Evernote. Updating your Evernote integration in Instapaper is a breeze. In order to make sure your Evernote integration continues working as expected (and so we can have a worry-free July 4th weekend), we wanted to make sure we had a solution in place before July 6th.

With the new API integration, Instapaper users do not have to worry about this limit when sharing content to Evernote. We decided to move over to the API because, starting July 6th, Evernote’s email feature will become a paid feature and can only be used by free users up to five times per month. As of today, we’ve replaced our former email-based Evernote integration in favor of using the Evernote API.
